Easter

Technically, Lent ends Saturday before Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday begins Holy Week. Others disagree with this calendar, but they are informed by the Anglican/Methodist/Nazarenes, and not the longer tradition church. 

 

We have the opportunity of April 4: This is the day of Rev Dr Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination, and other commemorative events. The Gospel of the Resurrection is NOT about the assurance of life after death. Easter is about rising of Jesus amongst his followers. It is empowerment and mission, culminating in Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit. Texts are pinned to 1 Corinthians 15, the resurrection chapter, and the last verse: 

 

⁵⁸ Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
