The Hard Work of Waiting

The Hard Work of Waiting

As Christians, we seem to be called to live out of a deliberate emptiness, a sort of chosen nonfulfillment.  This can be a difficult word in a culture that tells each of us that we are, or at least should be, in control.  Together we explore Luke 12:35-40 along with other scripture references in order to find hope in "a future created by God rather than ourselves."

Where are we? What time is the church in? This picks up where I left off with the “Great Rummage Sale” every 500 years. But now it is more current and precise, looking forward to the church in general. Each time the church is seduced by power it fails. Each time the church dies to the powers and principalities it flourishes. Who shall we be? “Greatness” Mt 20:26 || Mk 10:43; “ashamed of me and my words…” Mk 8:38 || Lk 9:26; Rom 1:16 not ashamed of the gospel.
